And so it begins…
Her move closer to independence
The snuggling lessens.
Now a little person
eager to push away
and forage new territory
I don’t know if my heart can take it
Yesterday
She rested her head on my chest
as I carried her,
body cocooned within a sling.
I breathed,
Held her close,
Enjoyed the sweetness.
Nothing like it.
I inhale in these moments
just to take them in,
remember.
Not wanting a second to leave my memory
Before curiosity and life take hold,
Making my little baby
too hard to hold
I’m joining Lisa-Jo Baker today for Five Minute Friday. Sadly, this is the last Friday she’ll be hosting. But the writing will continue over at Kate Motaung’s space, starting next Friday. So go ahead and join this writing “flash mob”. The rules are still be the same: Write for 5 minutes flat – no editing, no over thinking, no backtracking. You can post in the comments on the host’s blog or link up there with a post from your own blog. Then check out the post before yours, and leave a comment.

Oh my goodness, we are on the same brainwave. I wrote my post about my sweet baby boy being on the verge of walking. I love your poetic take on this. Thanks so much for sharing.
Keep writing,
Holly

Thank you for the encouragement! Since I’m a first-time mom who didn’t grow up around babies, I feel like I’m growing and discovering things as my daughter is, and I want to keep a record of EVERYTHING! These are definitely special times. I’ll have to check out your post!
