Thoughts crowd my head,
making me exhausted,
and overwhelmed.
Yesterday’s to-dos
are pushing their way
into my todays.
Early starts.
Late nights.
Mind racing
with what’s next.
I fight the heaviness
of my eyelids.
I lift them to see
piles of laundry
still unfolded,
floors unvacuumed,
and grocery list items
unchecked.
But I can’t fight forever.
I give in to
the tired gaze
of a child,
and find quiet, and rest
while she sleeps
in my arms.

  1. I love your poem. I like the way you tied it all together. I love the way that it is a child that brings you quiet at last. Thank you so much for sharing.

  2. Hi Claresa, Visiting from FMF today. Love your take on crowd with crowded mind. It feels crowded but then the freedom when you focus on the breathing blessing in your arms and realize that the other things can wait. Thanks for your wonderful thoughts on this today. Blessings to you as you “decrowd” your mind!
